Brand New Baby Goats at Blue Heron Farm

Blue Heron Farm, TX - Baby Goats
In addition to making great goat cheese, the owners of Blue Heron Farm in Field Store Community, Texas, give generous tours of their farm (see http://www.spendwiselytexas.com/2009/11/heron-bay-farm-spoiled-goats-fresh.html). My son and I stopped by recently to buy some cheese and to visit the baby goats that were born that week.

I've never seen anything cuter than a baby goat. They alternated between running about and snuggling us in search for food. They couldn't stop jumping and twisting in the air. We also visited a few of the pregnant goats. One went into labor and gave birth a half hour after we left. I was sorry to have missed the birth. I'm not sure how my son would have handled watching the event but it might have been a great teaching experience.

As always, the owners, Christian and Lisa, were welcoming and generous with their time. They shared lots of information about their farm and were open about how the animals were being cared for. If you live in the Greater Houston area, take advantage of this farm and visit. Don't leave without buying some cheese. It's addictive.

Neat - I love doing things like that. I've never had goat cheese before, does it taste really different than regular cheese?

The goat cheese from this farm is soft and creamy and utterly delicious. I'm a huge fan.

I love goats! They make awesome pets. When I was a kid I had a goat named Bridgette. The lotions and soaps made with goats milk are so awesome too!

How cute! We have 3 grown female goats and I can say for sure that the goats do not stay that cute for long. My husband wants to get some baby goats but I say NO WAY lol
