Montgomery Farmers Market - Good Food, Great Value

Every first Saturday of the month, the Montgomery Farmers Market is held at Hwy 149 and College Street (one street past Hwy 105). You'll find vendors selling foods such as fresh eggs, a variety of breads, pies, jams and nuts. You'll also find locally made crafts and artwork. The mood is festive and many of the vendors are there with spouses and children.

I bought from three vendors (although if my budget permitted it I would've splurged on a quite a few more). I purchased a three berry pie with an incredibly flaky cinnamon crust from Bobbo's (picture to the left). It was $10 but I have to say was completely worth it. If you're looking to spoil yourself or somebody else, buy this pie. Bobbo's also sold a variety of bird houses, feeders and bluebird boxes, all which looked really well made. On a more frugal note, I bought blueberry marmalade for $3 and 24 eggs for $4 from Ruttles. The marmalade was excellent and the eggs were fresh. I also purchased pumpkin butter from  Evening Star 4-H for $3. The pumpkin butter was really good, so good that it's already gone.

I have to say that I have never bought anything mediocre at a farmer's market. Everything, even the more expensive items always seem well worth the price. Fortunately most items are priced comparable to or cheaper than the grocery stores. For previous posts on other local farmers markets click below:
